I'm in the middle of knitting one of these mittens but am having trouble with the pattern. I have tried to interpret the instructions a hundred didfferent ways but am totally stuck. Any knitters who might be able to help please contact me.
My brother said 'September doesn't mess around.' He was right; autumn has nipped in. Last night I slept in a pair of red ribbed thigh-high socks my mama has had since I was born. These are some great sock and legging related looks (from top: Stylemob, Gap Tights, The Sartorialist (2), and Rowan pattern book.)
Isn't this a great scarf? From Etsy seller Blood Orange Thing. I went to her recently set up blog which I predict is going to be a very inspirational place. She has some nice things to say about organic and sustainable farming and cloth production.
Beautiful images from +Maco+'s photostream. The yellow petal I think would be a wonderful textile print. So lovely to see ordinary flowers and sky in a way you haven't seen before.
I just ordered this book! Very excited. Just the pictures will be inspirational if I can't figure out the patterns. Now I just need to find a good fabric store to get kitted out. Suggestions welcome!
Nicole Bridger Designs are just what I like: wearable, fun and quirky. I'm happy to see that they use eco-friendly fabric and lots of silk/modal blends which makes the softest jersey. I recently bought a micromodal top I never want to take off. I also like that the S/S 2008 model is curvy and quite lusciou looking. See more here.
I just spent three lovely days in Leeds, being driven around by E, and became aware of an annoying tendency to repeat aloud every shop, street, vehicle and town name. Follifoot, I say, Freedom Divers, Horsforth, Farmers With A Difference. Sorry E! Rose & Co. is a must-visit on my trips to Leeds.
If you are ever in Harrogate be sure to visit Duttons for Buttons. Floor to ceiling buttons in every shape, size and colour. The shop assistants were lovely too.
A lovely looking eco-conscious boutique based in Brooklyn. I really like the Purldrop line by owner Erin - I never thought crocheted jewellery could be wearably chic but hers is!
A and I worked the Moseley folk festival which was: grass springing up from beneath people's shoes, sweet dancing children, sun sun sun then unfortunately rain, sitting comfortable under the canopy of a majestic old tree, handmade fudge, and wonderful music from Morcheeba, The Bees, Jose Gonzales, Rachel Unthank and the Winterset, The Destroyers, Son of Neal and Adrian, Scott Matthews.
Knitting, braiding and beading take up most of my time. I also doodle; try to sew; collect things and put them into order without ultimately using them for anything; read kid's books; garden; drink coffee; paint my nails; read other blogs; change my career plans daily.
