Knittin'

I'm in the middle of knitting one of these mittens but am having trouble with the pattern. I have tried to interpret the instructions a hundred didfferent ways but am totally stuck. Any knitters who might be able to help please contact me.

My brother said 'September doesn't mess around.' He was right; autumn has nipped in. Last night I slept in a pair of red ribbed thigh-high socks my mama has had since I was born.
